Learning to drive in Folsom.

Folsom sits at the western edge of the Sierra Nevada foothills, and its streets range from quiet local roads and collectors to arterials, expressways and US-50 (City of Folsom General Plan, Mobility Element). Many of them are shared with bicyclists, pedestrians and transit, and the city plans roundabouts and traffic calming. Lessons climb that ladder one step at a time: the instructor moves a student to busier roads only once the earlier skills hold with fewer prompts, and changes the plan for traffic, weather or construction.

The drive test

The Folsom DMV field office is on East Bidwell Street. Behind-the-wheel tests are by appointment, and the DMV decides which offices give them and when, so check the office page on dmv.ca.gov before you book. Test-day support, one 90-minute lesson on your appointment day, is by request: tell us the office and the time, and the office confirms it. How test-day support works →
