What To Do 🎯

  1. Enroll in a DMV-Approved Driver’s Ed Course (Ages 15½–17½)

     

    • Complete 30 hours of online/classroom instruction

    • Stallion School can recommend trusted online partners if needed
       

  2. Get Your DMV Certificate of Completion (DL 400C)

     

    • You’ll need this to schedule your permit test
       

  3. Pass the DMV Written Test (Permit Test)

     

    • Bring proof of driver’s ed, ID, and legal guardian

    • Take the test at 15½ or older
       

  4. Start Behind-the-Wheel Training (6 Hours Required)

     

    • Complete 6 hours with a licensed instructor (like Stallion 🐎)

    • Receive your certificate of behind-the-wheel training
       

  5. Practice with Your Permit (50 Hours Total)

     

    • 50 hours minimum (10 hours at night) supervised by a parent or adult 25+

    • You must hold your permit for at least 6 months
       

  6. Take the DMV Driving Test (Usually After Age 16)
     

    • Book your appointment online

    • Bring your log of practice hours + training certificates

    Yes! We pick up and drop off anywhere in our service area (Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Granite Bay) — home, school, or work. also you can Text your name and the address minimum 2 hours before the lesson.
  • How early should I be ready?
    Please be ready 5–10 minutes before or after your scheduled time. We offer flexible pickup windows to accommodate traffic.
  • What happens if I’m late or miss my lesson?
    If you’re more than 15 to 20 minutes late without notice, it may count as a missed lesson. Please notify us in advance if you’re running late.
  • Can a parent or guardian ride along?
    Yes, parents may sit in on lessons if space allows, or the student feels more comfortable or has especial needs, especially during early lessons.
  • Can I split a package with a sibling or friend?
    No — each package is tied to one student for safety and certification.
  • Where will we drive?
    Local neighborhoods, open roads, and close to DMV test routes if needed.
  • Will I get the same instructor every time?
    We try to keep consistency, but availability may vary.
  • What if I’m really nervous?
    That’s okay. We specialize in nervous and first-time drivers.
  • Can I practice freeway driving?
    Yes, if your instructor deems you ready.
