Can Stallion credit behind-the-wheel training completed at another driving school?
Only after verification. Stallion does not credit self-reported training time. Stallion must verify the student, originating school and instructor, reliable contact information, training dates, and exact completed minutes against records from the originating school. Until that work is complete, the claimed time remains uncredited.
Verification of prior minutes is not a promise that Stallion will issue a Certificate of Completion of Behind-the-Wheel Training, that mixed-school training will support a DL 400D, or that California DMV will accept a particular record or certificate.
Why exact records matter
For the standard California path described by DMV for students under 18, behind-the-wheel driver training must total at least six hours, cannot exceed two hours per day, and observation time does not count toward the six hours. Current California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 50.45(b), also requires a minimum of six hours for behind-the-wheel certification.
California Vehicle Code section 11108 requires a licensed driving school to keep records that identify the school, student, permit or license, instructor, instruction dates and type, the amount of time for each type of instruction, total hours, and total cost. The statute requires those records to be retained for at least three years and makes them available to DMV for inspection.
Those rules are why a rounded estimate such as “about two hours” is not enough for Stallion’s transfer review. The remaining amount must be calculated from verified minutes, not reconstructed from memory.
Verification checklist
Stallion’s review requires enough reliable information to match the student to the originating school’s records:
the student’s full legal name and another appropriate identity match from the training record;
the learner’s permit or driver’s license identifier associated with the instruction, when applicable;
the originating school’s legal name, DMV license number, address, and working contact information;
the instructor’s name and instructor license number;
each behind-the-wheel instruction date;
the type of instruction recorded;
the exact completed minutes, excluding observation time; and
confirmation obtained from the originating school or another reliable school record, not solely from the student or family.
Stallion may need permission to contact the originating school. A screenshot, receipt, calendar entry, or verbal estimate may help locate a record, but it does not by itself establish transferable minutes.

The 45-minute threshold and its price are Stallion policy, not a DMV rule. The exception applies only after verification; a student’s own estimate does not activate it.

Decision checklist
Before requesting transfer review:
gather the originating school’s legal name, DMV license number, and current contact information;
locate the student record showing the learner’s identity and permit or license information;
request a dated breakdown of behind-the-wheel instruction in exact minutes;
confirm that observation time is separately identified and excluded;
make sure each instructor is named and the instructor license number is available;
authorize the originating school to respond to Stallion if authorization is required;
expect Stallion to contact or otherwise verify the record before calculating remaining time; and
make plans without assuming that verification will result in credit, a short-session exception, a certificate, or DMV acceptance.
Certificate boundary
California DMV’s official Student License Manual includes the DL 400D certificate fields for the student, school, and signing licensed instructor. DMV currently publishes a certificate order form and hosts a certificate issuance-log form. The currently hosted OL 400 (revision 6/2014) covers ordering DL 400D certificates, and the currently hosted OL 214 (revision 2/2011) says each issued certificate must be logged and agree with the individual student’s Driver Education and/or Training Record. Those materials document form fields and certificate ordering and issuance records; they do not provide an express DMV promise that Stallion may combine separately completed time from multiple schools and issue the certificate.
A transfer-hour review therefore answers only what prior minutes Stallion can verify and consider. Certificate responsibility and DMV acceptance remain separate questions.
